Can I add cable to an existing camera? No, cables can not be spliced without sacrificing strength, waterproofing and video-signal quality.
Why don’t the IR lights light up? IR is beneath the visible spectrum of light the human eye can see. Fish can not see it either.
Will the Fish TV work at night? The IR lights will help you in the morning and evening but do not put out enough light to see a significant distance at night.
I drop my camera in the water but can’t see anything? Make sure that your camera is located within one foot of the bottom, so you can see the bottom on the bottom 1/3 of the screen. Most of the time there is nothing to see in the middle of the water column. Also make sure your camera is not buried in the mud on the bottom.
How far in front of the camera can I see? Roughly double the distance you can see into the water.
Will my camera work in stained or dark brown waters? The camera will see up to twice what the eye can see. For example, drop a lure in the water. If you can see the lure down 2’, expect to see 3’ to 4’ in front of the camera. Murky and stained water will reduce visibility. However, many lakes clear at certain times of the year. We consider 2’ of visibility the minimum for effective use of your camera.
Is the monitor waterproof? The monitor is water resistant but it is not submersible. The accessory soft case adds another layer of weather resistance.
Can my Fish TV be powered with an alternative battery? Yes, any 12-volt battery will power your Fish TV. A 12-volt power cord is included.
How fast can I troll with my Fish TV? It depends on the depth and amount of camera cable you have out. Deeper water means more cable out and more water resistance, forcing you to go slower. Drifting or moving slowly with your trolling motor usually provides the best viewing.
Will my Fish TV work in the cold? It is designed to run in temperatures down to -30.
Is the Fish TV legal? To our knowledge there are no restrictions on the use of an underwater camera when fishing.
What is the camera angle? 92-degrees
How do I steer the camera? Moving slowly with the boat the camera will face whatever direction the boat is moving. When still or ice fishing simply spin the camera cable between your fingers to control the direction you are looking.
Can Fish TV be used in saltwater? Yes
